Obituary of Anna E (Ruotolo) Murphy

Anna E. (Ruotolo) Murphy, 94, of Peabody, died early Tuesday morning at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was devoted wife of the late D. Edward Murphy. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Gabriel and Maria (Grazia) Ruotolo. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and attended Peabody Public School. She worked as a stitcher for many years at the Danvers Bleachery and later worked in housekeeping at the former J.B. Thomas Hospital and Union Hospital before retiring many years ago. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and ceramics and was a member of the Peabody Garden Club, Peabody Grange and the Peabody Golden Agers. She was a longtime communicant of St. John’ s Church and a member of the St. John’ s Ladies Sodality. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Joyce Murphy of Worcester, two daughters and sons-in-law, Pauline and John Brennan of Peabody, and Nancy and Joseph Boucher of Dracut, MA, a stepdaughter, Marion LeBrun of NH, a sister, Madeline Ruotolo of Peabody, and is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and the extended Murphy Family. She was the mother of the late Dorothy Zebron, step mother of the late Henry, Edward and Raymond Murphy, sister of the late Angeline Desmond, and Frank and Alec Ruotolo, and grandmother of the late John Zebron. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut Street, Peabody, MA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. John’ s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
