I cannot remember a time in my life when I did not know John and Helen, our next door neighbors on County Street. Then I started knowing and babysitting for their daughters before they moved to West Peabody. Eventually my family rented their "old" apartment on County Street, and a few years later Stephanie and her family moved into that same apartment and my daughter Kristin babysat for that family. It was like coming full circle. Helen: my siblings and I are truly sorry for this loss. John was one of a kind and will be missed greatly. Love, Mary Chapman Johnson

I am so sorry for your loss. It seems like yesterday that I babysat for your children, first Maria then the others and came to know John as our next door neighbor. He was a wonderful man who gave freely to so many in so many ways as a plumber, landlord, neighbor and friend. He was always so devoted to his family. I remember even before he was married how he cared for his mother, taking her places, carrying things, always with a smile. John was a wonderful example to his children and others on how to live, giving freely, loving openly and putting the other first. I pray that your treasure trove of memories will always be a comfort and an inspiration.

Dearest Anezis Family, Heartfelt sadness as I express my sadness for the loss of John. I had the wonderful opportunity to see him each month and chat as he collected rents as the Franklin Street property. The scent of his brand of cigars always gave me joyful smile and I associate cigars with him. While his physical presence is no longer he will memory while always be everlasting. Peace be with you all, Mary Chalifour-Woodcock

Dear Helen, Maria, Vanessa, Stephanie, Steve, Jennifer and the extended Anezis family,

Words cannot express how deeply saddened we are to find out about John's passing. He was not only our cousin, but a wonderful lifelong friend. John lived life to the fullest, and he always had a smile on his face. I will never forget those Friday night hockey games at the Peabody rink that he organized with Solon and Duke as well as the end-of-the-year banquets at the Wardhurst. We will not be able to attend the wake and funeral, but our hearts will be with you during this difficult time. May his memory be eternal.

No one can prepare you for a loss - at least I did not; it came like a swift wind. However, We can take comfort in knowing that my friend John is now resting in the arms of our Lord. They say that A person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts and minds, through us, they live on. It was my honor to have known such a great person and I will truly miss him. May God embrace Helen, their family and friends in comfort during this difficult time.

I am so deeply saddened to hear of John's passing and I pray for Helen and all the family that they may find peace and comfort in the wonderful husband, father, and friend that he was to all of you. John lived large and was fortunate to be able to finish his journey doing just that.

Kathy and I are deeply saddened. Our hearts go out to Helen, their children and grandchildren. Personally, I have lost a great mentor, friend and father figure. John's zest for life is an inspiration to me. He is someone who has affected my life, as well as the life of many others, in such a positive way. A big ache is somewhere in my inside that only time can heal. Blessings, my friend, you are sorely missed already
