Obituary of Rosa L. Machado

Rosa L. Machado, 93, of Peabody passed away Wednesday Morning at Care One at Peabody after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Machado, who passed away in 2007. Rosa was born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal on August 30, 1923, daughter of the late Joao Lima and Filomena (Sousa) Reis. She was raised and educated there before moving to the United States on August 24, 1967. She worked at Bleyer Industries in Wakefield, as an assembler, prior to her retirement. Mrs. Machado was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody, where she attended mass regularly prior to her illness. She was also a member of the Azorean Brotherhood of the Divine Holy Ghost, also in Peabody. She also enjoyed crocheting, tending to her garden, but most importantly being surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be truly missed. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Adroaldo & Maria de Jesus Machado of Peabody, Fatima & Antonio Rocha of Salem, Ariovalda Machado of Topsfield, Ildeberta & Jose Ferreira of Peabody, Magueda & Pedro Ramos of Peabody; two daughters-in-law, Fatima Machado of Canada, and Laura Machado of NH; 15 Grandchildren, 16 Great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by two sons, Jose Adalberto Machado and Joao Gabriel Machado; her siblings Manuel Lima, Joao Lima, and Maria da Luz Ataide. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 5, from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 6 at 8:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody at 9:00 AM. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
