Obituary of Beatrice "Bea" Gibbons

Beatrice Bea Gibbons, age 98, died unexpectedly on October 3, 2003 at Avera McKennan Hospital of Sioux Falls, SD. Mrs. Gibbons was born January 7, 1905 to Francis and Cecilia (Gill) Gilhooley in Co. Leitrim, Ireland. She immigrated to the Untied States in 1924. On September 26, 1935, Mrs. Gibbons married James Gibbons in Lynn, MA. Beatrice was a homemaker and also lived in Nashville, TN, Birmingham, Al, and Syracuse, NY. She moved to Sioux Falls in 1985 to be with her daughter. Mrs Gibbons was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church, and the Catholic Daughters, Court of St. Patricia #271 in Sioux Falls. She is survived by her son, Rev. James Gibbons, OMI of Goania, Brazil; one daughter, Cecilia of Sioux Falls, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; two brothers, Bernard and Patrick; and three sisters, Mary Jane, Margaret, and Celia. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Ann Church, Peabody. Her son Rev. James Gibbons, OMI will officiate. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may pay their respects Friday from 10 to 10:50 a.m. at St. Ann’ s Chapel, 140 Lynn St., Peabody. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem
