Obituary of Richard E Neville
Richard E Neville, 77, of Salem, formerly of Lynn, died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 2 at Salem Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Donna (Parmelee) Neville with whom he shared over 39 years of marriage.
Born in Urbana, OH, he was the son of the late Richard L. Neville and Helen Frances (Stephenson) Brown. He was raised in Ohio by his mother and step-father, John Brown, later lived in Texas, and has spent the last 40 years living on the North Shore.
Richard had proudly served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1968. While serving in the military, he received his bachelor’s degree and then later a master’s degree from Northeastern University.
Upon his discharge from the US Navy, he embarked on a 30 year career as a computer system analyst and retired from Honeywell Bull in Billerica several years ago.
Richard was an avid reader, loved his model trains, but his favorite endeavor was playing the role of Santa Claus at local malls and at the Salem Senior Center.
