Obituary of Alyce D (Cidzik) Fleming

Alyce (Cidzik) Fleming, 98, wife of the late James T Fleming of Peabody, passed away on Monday after a short illness. Born in Danvers, she was the daughter of the late William and Antonia (Luczko) Cidzik. She attended Danvers Schools and was a graduate of Holten High class of 1937. Upon her graduation she attended Felt and Tarrant Comptometer School and upon completion of the course she accepted a job with the Salem Shoe Manufacturing Company and then during World War II, she worked in the tabulating department of the Pequot Mills leaving in 1948 to be married. She was a stay at home mom for many years, then worked as a sales associate for Jordan Marsh before retiring in 1982. She did volunteer work at the North Shore Medical Center for many years, while there she was nominated and was accepted by the Salem News as one of many North Shore Medical Center people that made a difference on the North Shore. She was an avid baseball and football fan and a great knitter who made mittens, sweaters, scarves, and slippers for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many friends. She is survived by her son, James T Fleming, Jr and his wife Louise of Natick, her daughters, Joyce Nunan and her husband Donald of Georgetown, Jean Lee-Caccia and her husband Richard of Beverly, and Jane E Casey of Plymouth, and is also survived by her seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Julia, Edward, and Leo Cidzik, and Stella April, her grandson, Adam Nunan, and by her son-in-law, Robert Casey. She will be dearly missed by all. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St, Downtown Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
