Obituary of James Richardson Brown, Jr.
James R. Brown, Jr., 72, of Essex Green Lane, beloved husband of Marie (La Camera) Brown, died peacefully on Wednesday evening at his home following a long illness.
Born in Lewiston, ME, he was the son of the late James R. and Luella (MacDonald) Brown. He lived in Greene, ME in his youth and graduated from Lewiston High School. He then graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at King’ s Point, Long Island, NY and the Boston University School of Law.
Mr. Brown was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, with service in the United States Navy.
He was a Lawyer, and was associated with a few Law Firms in Boston before going into his private practice for a few years before retiring two years ago.
He was and Outdoorsman, and enjoyed his membership at the Danvers Fish & Game Club, was a City Councilor, served as Past President, during the 1970’ s, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Leo Council 508 of Peabody, a former Board of Trustee of the North Shore Catholic Charities, and an active communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody.
He is survived by: his wife, Marie (La Camera) Brown of Peabody, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage; three sons, James M. Brown of Andover, Jeffrey T. Brown of Harwood, MD, and Gregory Brown of Topsfield; seven grandchildren, Lauren, Jeffrey JT , Anne Marie, Timothy, & Haley Brown, all of MD, and Sara and Jennifer Brown of Andover; a very close family friend, Jennifer Page of Rockville, MD; one brother, Robert Brown of Greene, ME; three sisters, Geraldine Crouse of FL, Carolyn Champa of NJ, and Elizabeth O’ Connor of Auburn, ME, and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Monday at 8 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in St. John’ s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities of the North Shore, 55 Lynn Shore Dr., Lynn, MA 01902.
