Obituary of Kathleen L. (McGee) Lavoie

Kathleen L. (McGee) Lavoie 67, of Beverly, wife of Leonard J. Lavoie, passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family at her home on Saturday, April 1, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. Kathleen was born in Lynn, on February 4, 1950 the daughter of the late Arthur and Louise (Linehan) McGee. Raised and educated in Peabody she was a graduate of Peabody High School class of 1968. She then pursued her education at Salem State University receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education and her Masters from Cambridge College. Kathleen had a passion for teaching, and was employed for 20 years in the Beverly School System, primarily teaching Kindergarten. She was a loving mother who created a warm home for her family and whom enjoyed spending precious time with her 3 grandchildren. Kathleen was also an avid reader and enjoyed knitting. In addition to her husband Leonard, she is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Cheryl Lavoie of Newton, and Peter Lavoie of Haverhill; her siblings and their spouses, Arthur “Bobby” and Kathy McGee, William “Billy” and Carol McGee, John “Jack” and Candice McGee, Karen and Thomas Carter all of Peabody, Laurie and Michael Madison of Salem, and Mary Lou and Karl Kravchuk of Groveland; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard and Barbara Lavoie of Hull, Claudia and Richard Perron of SC, Christine and Lawrence Damigella of Billerica, Denise and Wayne Britton of Topsfield, Joseph and Brenda Lavoie of Peabody, Michael and Patty Lavoie of Upton, and David Brown of Methuen; 3 aunts and 1 uncle, Simone Roy of Peabody, Lauraine Dion of Hollis NH, and Vivian and Peter Mandragouras of No Reading; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Jeanne Brown. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home on Wednesday, April 5tth followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Ann Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Bread and Roses, www.breadandroseslawrence.org , 58 Newbury St., Lawrence MA 01840.
