Obituary of Chris J. Decoulos
Chris J. Decoulos, 78, of Danvers, beloved husband of the late Katherine Decoulos, passed away peacefully at Ledgewood Skilled Nursing Center in Beverly on Sunday, April 2, 2017. Born on November 17, 1938, he was the son of the late James and Helen (Saxonis) Decoulos. He was raised and educated in Peabody, and was a graduate of Bentley College. Prior to moving to Danvers 11 years ago, he and Katherine, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage, raised their family in Boxford. Chris was a certified public accountant and operated his own practice. He was also a member of the AICPA. In his later years, Chris enjoyed developing real estate on the North Shore. Proud of his heritage, Chris had a passion for sharing Greek traditions and customs with others. He was also known to have a piece of wisdom to impart for any given situation. Chris enjoyed working with his hands, as a skilled carpenter, avid landscaper, and fixer of all things. He was a gifted pool player, and enjoyed swimming, bicycling, dancing and listening to jazz music. Above all else, Chris was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his adoring children and their spouses, Ellen and John Tibbetts of Danvers, Suzanne and David Farley of Boxford, James and Emily Decoulos of Hopkinton, and Christina and Mitch Salkovitz of West Newbury; his cherished grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Emily, Katie, Jack, Joshua, Olivia and Sydney; 2 brothers and their spouses, John and Irene Decoulos of Boxford, Nick and Helen Decoulos of Peabody; a sister, Peggy Farrell of Quincy; a sister-in-law, Harriet Decoulos of Danvers; a lifelong friend, Arthur Pappathanasi of Swampscott, and many nieces, nephews, godchildren and close friends. He was also predeceased by his brother Stefo Decoulos. Chris’s family would like to thank the caring staff of Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Beverly and Care Dimensions of Danvers. A private family service will be held and there will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Chris’s memory to Care Dimensions, www.caredimensions.org , 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
