Obituary of Frances (Smith) Cotreau

Frances M. (Smith) Cotreau, 82, died Wednesday at the Shaughnessy Rehab. Hospital, Salem after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Andrew L. Cotreau. She was born in Manchester, N.H,, the daughter of the late Lewis W. and Grace E. (Colby) Smith, she moved to Lynn Ma in her youth and was a graduate Of Lynn English High School in 1939. During WW 11, she was a secretary at the former Crippendorf Co. of Lynn. Later she operated with her late husband the Puritan Fish Market in Swampscott for 20 years. She had been a resident of St. Petersburg, Fl for 10 years before moving back to Peabody, Ma. 30 years ago. For the past 16 years, she Had been employed as a Sales Clerk at the former Jordan Marsh Co., now Macy’ s department store at the North Shore Mall in Peabody. She loved to travel, and enjoyed Sewing and knitting and being with her family. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Denis G. and Suzanne Cotreau of West Newbury, David Cotreau of West Peabody and Andrew F. and Dyane Cotreau of Manchester by the Sea, Ma., a daughter and son-in-law, Gerianne and Anthony Caruso of Boxford, Ma., a brother, Robert Smith of Superior, Az., 3 sisters, Grace Thompson of Englewood, CO., Margaret Reynolds of Lynn, Ma. And Alice Luongo of Malden, Ma., a sister-in-law, Sister Irene Coutreau S.N.D. of the Sisters of Notre Dame,of Ipswich, five grandchildren, Zachary, Alexandra and Jake Cotreau of Manchester, Ma. And Victoria and Andrew Caruso of Boxford and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Claire Bidmead. Her funeral will be held on Saturday from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’ s Church at 10. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. ) Visiting hours on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
