Obituary of Dr. Winn E. Broughton D.D.S.

Dr. Winn E. Broughton, D.D.S., 78 , a well known dentist in Peabody for over 40 years died Tuesday at his residence after a short illness. He was the husband of June T. (Longmire) Broughton. A lifelong resident of Peabody, he was born here on June 12, 1927 the son of the late Grafton and Ruth (Frame) Broughton. He graduated from Peabody High School in 1945 and enlisted in the US Navy during WW 11. Following his discharge he then entered Northeastern University for 4 years and following graduation entered Georgetown University for 4 years where he received his degree in dentistry. He first started his practice in Somerville for one year and then moved to Peabody where he practiced dentistry for 44 years prior to his retirement in 1999. He had been a member for 45 years with the Massachusetts Dental Society. He was active in St. John’ s Church serving as a Eucharistic Minister and scheduling the minister program. He had been active in the Midget Football program in Peabody serving as treasurer for many years and well as a coach in the Peabody Little League. He enjoyed playing golf and being with his family. Surviving him besides his wife are five sons and four daughters-in-law, Winn E. Broughton Jr., Paul F. and Monica Broughton, John S. and Diane Broughton, Robert C. and Janet Broughton and Andrew J. and Cheryl Broughton all of Peabody, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Shelly R. and Steve Cimmino of Nottingham, NH, Julie B. and Mark Osborne of Danvers and Linda J. Riley of Salem, a brother, Henry P. Doc Broughton of Beverly, a sister and brother-in-law,, Jacqueline and Peter Gianareles of Peabody, 19 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Janet Minici and Theresa Tarenz. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
