Obituary of Richard Peter Lantych
Richard P. Lantych, 58, of Peabody, died early Friday morning at his home following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Alice (Cooper) Lantych with whom he shared over 36 years of marriage.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Sally (Lantych) Marfongelli. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem Vocational School, class of 1964. He later lived in Danvers and has spent the last 15 years living in Peabody. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War who served with the United States Navy.
Prior to his illness, he worked for Phillips Lighting Company in Lynn for over 20 years as a design engineer for light bulbs.
He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, sailing, fishing, in Maine and at Crane’ s Beach in Ipswich. He also enjoyed vintage cars.
Besides his loving wife of 36 years, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard F. Lantych and David and Lucy Lantych, all of Peabody; 3 brothers, Joseph Marfongelli of Madbury, NH, Gary and his wife Karen Marfongelli of Stratham, NH, and Dana Marfongelli of Beverly; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Elmer and Barbara Cooper of Lynn, a nephew, John Lantych of Danvers; 5 grandchildren, Cheryl, Brad, Allison, Brain, and Adam Lantych, the family dog Candy and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 am from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Sunday from 6 until 8 PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, Ma 01923.
