Obituary of Jacqueline E. (Irving) Giles
Jacqueline E. (Irving) Giles PEABODY – Jacqueline E. (Irving) Giles, 93, beloved wife of the late Charles L. Giles, died peacefully at her home on Monday evening April 24, 2017. Born in Waltham, she was the daughter of the late John and Gloria (Bertao) Irving. She grew up in Georgetown where she attended schools and graduated from Georgetown High School. She lived in many US Cities while married to her first husband as a wife of a Navy veteran. Later she remarried and moved to Wilmington where she lived many years until recently moving to Peabody. Mrs. Giles worked for the Polaroid Corporation in Waltham for many years, where she retired as a secretary. Jacqueline enjoyed drawing and water color painting which she took up, and became quite proficient at, after her retirement. She also enjoyed being outside, tending to her gardens that she cherished in Wilmington, and relaxing at their beach house in Swansea where she spent many happy years with her family. She was a lifelong member of the Georgetown Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She will be remembered for her independent spirit, determination and quick wit. She is survived by her beloved daughter Brenda Bennett of Fitchburg, her son-in-law Lucas Giles of Fitzwilliam, NH; five grandchildren, Dawn Rogers and her partner Laurel Stewart of Stow, Jennifer Langton and her husband David of Townsend, David Giles of Fitzwilliam, NH, Kristen Tabron of Fitchburg and Lydia Grimm of Manchester, NH; two great-granddaughters, Alyssa Kuhns of Wilton, NH and Abigail Langton of Townsend; her sister Gloria Priscilla and her daughter Gloria Evans both of Milad, Idaho. Following cremation, family and friends are cordially invited to gather on Saturday June 3, 2017 at 11 AM at the New Beginnings United Methodist Church, Main St., Townsend, MA for a Memorial Service followed by light refreshments and stories. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Audubon Society www.nationalaudubonsociety.com and Care Dimensions of Danvers (Hospice) 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 www.caredimensions.org in Jacqueline’s name.
