Obituary of Mary T. "Marie" (Keilty) Skerry

Mary T. “Marie” (Keilty) Skerry 90, of Peabody, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 5, 2017. She was the wife of the late Patrick J. “Joe” Skerry. Marie was born in Salem, on June 3, 1926, the daughter of Patrick and Bridget (Killeen) Keilty. Raised and educated in Peabody she graduated from Peabody High School in 1945. She then pursued her education at the Salem Hospital School of Nursing. Marie began her working career as a telephone operator at New England Telephone Company in Peabody and later as a nurse assistant at Salem Children’s Hospital. She was a loving mother who devoted her life to creating a home for her family and friends, and as hobbies enjoyed knitting and cooking. Marie is survived by 2 sons, Patrick F. Skerry and his wife Vicki Fordham of FL, and Michael J. Skerry and his partner Sandy M. Barnatchez of Peabody, 2 grandsons, Brian Skerry, Daniel Skerry and his wife Cherry, 2 great grandchildren, Colt & Case; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Girasella of Reading; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was also predeceased by her brothers Thomas, Lester and John Keilty. Marie’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, May 10th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. facility (next to St. John’s Church and Peabody City Hall) Peabody, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody.
