Obituary of Julie T. O'Rourke

Julie T. O’Rourke PEABODY – Julie T. O’Rourke, 54, died peacefully on Saturday morning May 6, 2017 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a brief illness, while in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Marilyn (Smith) O’Rourke. She grew up in Beverly and graduated from Beverly High School, Class of 1980. She then studied at Salem State College, earning a bachelor degree in Business Administration with an Accounting concentration. Later she earned a Masters Degree in Finance from Bentley College. She lived in Peabody for several years. She worked with Weir, PLC in Salem for 25 years, advancing to Vice-President of Finance. She recently was the Financial Controller with Navitas, a global education business that helps foreign students adapt to cultural differences and improve their language skills. Julie enjoyed travel around the world, both for business and with friends. She visited Australia, England, Asia and Alaska and many other places in the United States. She loved music, Boston Terriers, and was passionately devoted to her family. She is survived by two brothers, Edward M. and his wife Maryanne O’Rourke of East Providence, RI and Terrence S. O’Rourke of Eliot, ME; two nephews and a niece, Thomas O’Rourke of East Providence, RI and Liam O’Rourke and Charlotte O’Rourke both of Eliot, ME. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Thursday May 11, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 A.M. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
