Obituary of Absalom "Happy" Mugford
Absalom “Happy” Mugford, 85, of Peabody passed away peacefully on May 9 at Beverly Hospital. Born on February 7, 1932 and raised in Chelsea, he was the son of the late Harvey and Dinah (Penney) Mugford. He was married to the late Barbara (Russell) Mugford who died on November 29, 2003 and together they raised six children in Peabody. Happy was educated in Chelsea Schools and he was an iron worker for 62 years of the Local 7 of Boston. Happy enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time at his condo in Naples, Florida. He is survived by two sons, Michael Mugford of Danvers and Francis Mugford of Peabody, three daughters, Donna and her husband Kevin Greus of Methuen, his special daughter Carol Mugford of Lynn, and Barbara and her husband Danny Marchese of Peabody, a son-in-law, Kevin Marston of Danvers, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one brother George and his wife Jan Mugford of Revere, two sisters, Pearl Northill of Tewksbury and Gloria Mugford of Florida and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Jeanne Marton of Peabody who died in 2002 and his grandson Kevin Greus of Peabody who died in 2000. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A private burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Happy’s name to Bridgewell, 10 Dearborn Road, Peabody.
