Obituary of Teresa Ana Petuleia Vorrias

Teresa Ana Petuleia (Valente) (Spencer) Vorrias, 55, beloved wife of Anthony Vorrias of Peabody passed into God’s heavenly peace on Saturday, May 6th . She was born in Peabody in J.B. Thomas Hospital and was a 1979 graduate of Peabody High School and a graduate of Salem State University in 1985. She had a passion for art and music and was able to find beauty in the people and world around her. Teresa found great joy in Elvis Costello, the Beatles, the Patriots and Quincy, MD. She was a lifelong member of the South Congregational Church in Peabody where she taught Sunday School for many years and loved the children and people there. In recent years, Teresa joined the Praise and Worship Team and felt she had truly found her calling and passion serving God and her church family. Teresa enjoyed working at her family’s Oceanview Lodge in Dennisport, MA during the Summer. She was a kind, compassionate person who loved interacting with the guests there, many of whom were yearly visitors and who were more like family. Her primary concern was her family. As a teenager, she helped care for her grandparents, the late Antonia and Diogo Valente and Teresa and Jose Patuleia. She is survived by her husband, Anthony, her sons Gerald D. Spencer III and his fiancé, Kirsten Callahan, and Jeffrey Spencer; her parents, Ana (Patuleia) and Illidio Valente, her brothers and their spouses, Illidio and Dianne Valente Jr., Diogo and Elaine Valente all of Peabody, and her beloved cats Kelly and Bitsy. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews, Jessica, Cheyenne, Alex, Patience, Robert and Amanda, Andrea, Derek, Rebeca and Mark, Aaivril, William, Sarah, Samantha and Matthew, her aunt Dolores and Aunt Jaquina and cousins in Peabody, Portugal, Argentina, Florida and around the world including her birthday twin Christina. In addition to her grandparents, she was predeceased by her Uncle Jack, Uncle Rufino, her first husband Gerald D. Spencer Jr.. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 15, 2017 at the South Congregational Church, 60 Prospect St., Peabody with Rev. Grant Hoofnagle officiating.
