Obituary of Virginia R. (Clancy) Cochrane
Virginia R. (Clancy) Cochrane 85 years of Peabody, wife of the late Vincent T. Cochrane, died on Saturday after a brief illness.
Mrs. Cochrane was born on March 5, 1921 in Peabody daughter of the late Cornelius W. and Catherine D. (Rooney) Clancy. She was raised in Peabody, graduated from Peabody High School class of 1938 and was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mrs. Cochrane devoted her entire life to her family. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church where she participated with other church members in the petition to have the church remain as a viable parish in the Archdiocese of Boston. She was also an avid Red Sox fan.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Kevin C. and Elizabeth Betsy Cochrane of Byfield; a daughter and her husband, Susan C. and Kenneth B. Finkenaur of Danvers; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Hutt of Topsfield, Amy Lowe of Aldie VA, Meghan Cochrane of Byfield, Michael Finkenaur of Danvers and Kevin Finkenaur of Warren NH; 3 great grandchildren, Jackson, Theo and Michaela Hutt of Topsfield; 2 nieces, Sharon Graff and Sheila Light both of Danvers and many other nieces and nephews. A brother and 5 sisters pre deceased her.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. location Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Salem Peabody line. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 2 Margin Street, Peabody MA 01960.
