Obituary of Anna (Cavicchio) Mistretta
Anna (Cavicchio) Mistretta, 89, of Peabody died peacefully on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the North Shore Medical Center in Salem, with her family at her side. She was the devoted wife to retired Peabody Fireman Salvatore Mistretta, and had resided with him in Peabody for the past 64 years. She was born in Somerville, MA on October 1, 1927, the daughter of the late Rocco and Elena (DiFonzo) Cavicchio, and was raised there, graduating from the Boston Trade School. Anna was an expert seamstress who during WW II sewed military uniforms for the U.S. Armed Forces, and she continued sewing for customers, family and friends all of her life. She was a very active member of St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody making altar cloths, and had been a past president of St. John’s School Mother’s Guild and a member of the St. John’s Ladies Sodality. Anna had also been a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas for many years. She enjoyed going dancing and cooking and spending special times with her family. She loved sharing long conversations over a cup of coffee with people she loved, and will be deeply missed by her family and a host of friends. She is survived by her husband, Salvatore “Sal” of Peabody, two daughters and a son-law, Karen and John Arnold of Peabody and Elaine Brown of Greenland, NH, a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Susan Mistretta of Lee, NH, and a sister, Elisa Corapi of Watertown, MA, her cherished grandchildren, Elaina Flynn, Brian, Daniel and Joseph Arnold, Jenna Surface, Analise Arnold, Rachel and Ryan Brown, Adam and Katelyn Mistretta, and her eight great grandchildren, Kailyn and Kya Flynn, Kendal, Alexa, Reagan and Avery Arnold, Jackson and Charlotte Surface, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Anthony and Salvatore Cavicchio and Mary Sotolotto. A Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody.
