Obituary of Anna Marie (Henry) McCarthy
Anna Marie (Henry) McCarthy, 86, a resident of Windmill Manor in Iowa died on Monday May 1, 2006 at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics Iowa following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. McCarthy was born on December 31, 1919 in Peabody daughter of the late James F. Henry Sr. and Mary A. (McGann) Henry. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School class of 1937. On September 4, 1943 she married Timothy McCarthy in Peabody. He died in 1995.
Anna was a lifelong resident of Peabody who moved to Coralville Iowa in August of 2005 to be near her daughter and her family.
Anna, fondly called Nana by her grandchildren, loved being surrounded by her family, playing cards and BEANO, and spending time by the ocean. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and St. Ann Church, was a member of St. John’ s Ladies Sodality, D.A.V. Post 1011 Ladies Auxiliary, the Golden Agers, Council on Aging and very active at the Peter A. Torigian Community life Center all in Peabody and St. Williams Guild at St. John’ s Prep. in Danvers.
Mrs. McCarthy is survived by a daughter, Ann Marie McCarthy and her husband Jeffrey Murray of Iowa City IA; a son Timothy S. McCarthy III and his wife Margaret Ann McCarthy of Simsbury CT; 4 grandchildren, Ryan, Christopher, Kaitlin all of IA and Meara of CT; her many wonderful nieces and nephews. Her siblings James F. Henry Jr., Mary King, Helen Rennick and Julia Ellis pre deceased her.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Thursday 5 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Iowa Foundation for the Children’ s Hospital of Iowa.
