Obituary of Mariana A. Candido

Mariana A. Candido PEABODY— Mariana A. Candido, 87, of Peabody, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon at the NSMC-Salem Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Manual C. Candido, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. Mariana was born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal on April 8, 1930, daughter of the late Manuel A. Verissimo and Deolinda M. Leite. She was raised and educated there before immigrating to Peabody in 1970. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Alpha Inc. in Woburn for 21 years. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, going to the Torigian Life Center, most importantly being devoted to her family. She was a kind-hearted woman and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Besides her loving husband of 64 years, she is survived by her daughters, Leolinda Veiga and her husband Duarte of Lowell, Lucy Sprague of Salem; her grandchildren; Lisa Veiga and her fiancé Tyler Tracy, Leslie Veiga and her boyfriend Stephen Pereira, Jeffrey Veiga and his girlfriend Glorimar Alvarez; twin grandsons Mark and Matthew Sprague, a great-granddaughter, River Tracy; her siblings, Margarida Leite of Graciosa, Daniel Verissimo and his wife Francelina of CA, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers Joao Verissimo and Eugidio Leite, and five half siblings. Visitation will be held on Sunday June 4, from 2:00 until 6:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held on Monday, June 5 at 8:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
