Obituary of John Meagher Crean, Esq.
John Meagher Crean, 81, of Danvers, formerly of Peabody and South Yarmouth, passed away on April 21, 2017 at Benchmark Senior Living at Putnam Farm, after a brief illness. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Pauline E. (Pierce) Crean, John was the son of William H. and Ethelwyn E. Crean, and was raised in Peabody. He attended St. John’s Grammar School and was a graduate of St. John’s Preparatory School, The School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and Georgetown Law School. Mr. Crean served in the U.S. Army in the Language Division, and was stationed in Bad Aibling, Germany. John was a partner in the law firm of Pearl, McNiff, Crean, Cook and Sheehan, 30 Main St. Peabody, for over three decades before his retirement to South Yarmouth, where he lived, along with his wife Pauline, for 15 years. Mr. Crean is survived by two brothers, Paul G., of Wolfeboro, N. H. and his wife, Norma, and David M. Crean, of Mercer Island, Washington and his wife, Dorothy. He was predeceased by his brother, William H. Crean, Jr. and his wife, Peggy, of Phoenix, Arizona. He is also survived by his stepdaughters, Elizabeth Kimball Gagne and her husband, Robert, of Gilford, N.H. and Barbara Boulay Malgeri and her husband, Vincent, of Danvers; his stepsons, Robert Boulay and his wife, Donna of Goffstown N.H. and Stephen Boulay and his wife Deann of Newburyport, as well as 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and their families. John was a benefactor of Camp Belknap in Tuftonboro, N.H. where he was both a camper and camp counselor for many years in his youth. A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St. Peabody, MA at 11 a.m. Calling hours begin at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Care Dimensions Hospice, 75 Sylvan St. Danvers, MA 09123. The interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
