Ryan Hughes

Obituary of Ryan W Hughes

Ryan W Hughes, 39, of Peabody, died Saturday evening at Salem Hospital following a 20-year battle with addiction. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Melvin and Jacqueline (Crocker) Hughes. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody Veteran’s Memorial High School in 1996 and later graduated from Johnson and Wales College with a degree in culinary arts. While in high school, Ryan played on the football team, enjoyed cooking, and was employed all throughout high school at Ocean Delight in Peabody. Upon his graduation from college, Ryan was employed as a chef at Angelica’s Restaurant in Middleton for many years. There were two sides of Ryan, first, he was hard working and was always willing to help others and the other side, he was tormented by the loss of his mother and father at a young age, which unfortunately lead to his addiction. However, his love for his family was strong and will be dearly missed by all those who loved him and supported him. He is survived by his children, Andrew and Haley Hughes of Peabody, his sister, Susan Chick of Beverly and by many dear friends and extended family. Following cremation, his visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a brief service at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Salvation Army, 93 North Street, Salem, MA 01970 or Learn to Cope at www.learn2cope.org
