Obituary of Katherine D. McGinn

Katherine D. Doris (Hayden) McGinn, of Peabody, 89 years, wife of the late Peabody Police Officer James H. McGinn died Thursday at Lahey Clinic North after a brief illness. Mrs. McGinn was born Jan. 11, 1913 in Peabody, daughter of the late William F. and Eliza J. (O’ Brien) Hayden and had been a lifelong resident. She attended St. John’ s Girls High School graduating in 1930. She then attended Regis College in Weston obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education with a concentration in Spanish in 1934. Prior to her marriage and raising her family she was employed by the City of Peabody in the Treasurer’ s Office and also as a substitute teacher in the Peabody School system. She was a member of St. John’ s Ladies Sodality and was an avid reader. She is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Philip F. McGinn and James M. McGinn both of Peabody and John J. and Cynthia McGinn of Lynn; two daughters and a son-in-law, Elizabeth J. Bellerose of Peabody and Patsie and Peter Wilson of Danvers; eight grandchildren, Daniel Bellerose of Newburyport, Amy Boulay of Georgetown, Todd and Nicole Wilson of Danvers, Matthew, Pamela, Megan and Luke McGinn all of Lynn; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Roland and Stuart Hayden. Her funeral will be held Monday at 12 p.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home facility at 12 Chestnut St., Peabody 978-531-0398 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody.
