Obituary of Eileen (Boylan) O'Leary

Eileen (Boylan) O’Leary PEABODY -- Eileen (Boylan) O' Leary, 93, of Peabody, died Tuesday, July 4th, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Leo O'Leary with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. A lifelong resident of Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Mary (Mannix) Boylan and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1940. She was later employed at the Hytron in Danvers and then Sylvania in Salem before going on to raise her three children and assist her husband in founding Trans City Trucking Company. For twenty years she managed the business office and was known as the friendly voice on the phone. She and Leo were longtime members of the Riverside Squares and Seaside Steppers square dancing clubs. Eileen was an avid reader and frequent visitor to the South Branch Library in Peabody. She enjoyed shopping, jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles, playing Bingo and Keno and her occasional visit to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. She was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and also enjoyed watching golf tournaments and mystery movies. Eileen was a kind, gracious, and gentle lady who touched the world with her generous and compassionate spirit, but above all, she was loving, proud, and dedicated to her beloved family and their pets and cherished spending time with all of them. She adored her grandchildren and took great delight in visits from her precious great grandchildren. In recent years, Eileen would often be seen riding "shotgun" in her daughters' cars as they were off for their daily adventures, and she will be deeply missed. Eileen is survived by her two daughters, Janice Ouellette and her husband, Buddy, of Peabody; Nancy Lafond and her husband, Bob, of Derry, NH; her son, Richard O'Leary and his wife, Donna, of Hampstead, NH; five grandchildren, Sean Ouellette, Kerry Lafond, Michael Lafond and his wife, Erin, Mandy Lafond, and Erin Delmore and her husband, Michael; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Madeline, and Max Lafond, and Benjamin Delmore. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Leonard Boylan and John "Bobby" Boylan. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 9 A.M. – 10:30 A.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Memorial donations may be made to the Celiac Disease Foundation, 20350 Ventura Blvd, Ste 240, Woodland Hills, CA 91364 or to www.celiac.org
