Obituary of Katherine (Ampeliotis) Asloglou

Katherine (Ampeliotis) Asloglou, 82 PEABODY – Katherine (Ampeliotis) Asloglou, 82, beloved wife of the late Harry Asloglou, died unexpectedly on Saturday July 15, 2017 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, while in the comforting presence of her loving family. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Emanuel and Evangelina (Venios) Ampeliotis. She graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1952, then studied at Burdette college in Lynn, graduating with the Class of 1956. Mrs. Asloglou nurtured her family at home while her children were young. Later she was employed as an office clerk with the City of Peabody Department of Public Works for 10 years, retiring in 1987. Katherine was a long-time member and very active at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody. She taught Sunday School, was a member of the Philoptochos Society, and the Daughters of Penelope. She was also a member of the AARP 2454 of Salem, an honorary member of the Ladies Auxilliary of the Disabled American Veterans Post 100 of Peabody, the Gold Star Women of America, and the Municipal Employees Association. She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Emanuel Asloglou and his wife Cindy of Peabody, Paul Asloglou and his spouse Craig Rancourt of Hampton Falls, NH, and Leah Ellsworth and her husband Michael of Brentwood, TN, and three grandchildren, Matthew Ellsworth, Kaitlyn Ellsworth, and Tanya Sullivan. She was the sister of the late Marion Christ. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation on Wednesday July 19, 2017 from 9 – 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 AM in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
