Obituary of Alice A. (Surette) Babin

Alice A. (Surette) Babin, 82, of Lynn, loving wife of the late William H. Babin with whom she had celebrated 62 years of marriage, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at the NSMC Salem Hospital with her family at her side. Mrs. Babin was born in Lynn, on February 25, 1935, the daughter of the late Bernard and Cerina (Jacquard) Surette. Raised and educated in Lynn she has resided in the city for most of her life. Alice was employed for a number of years as the cook at the Christ Child Nursery in Lynn until her retirement in 1997. She was a loving mother who devoted her life to creating a home for her family, later enjoyed spending endless hours with her cherished grandchildren and great granddaughters. She enjoyed traveling to Nova Scotia to visit her relatives and when not traveling made sure to keep in touch by telephoning them. Alice is survived by her children and their spouses, Linda A. and Joseph Turcotte, William B. and Cheryl Babin of Peabody, Massachusetts and Michelle A. Tahany and her fiancée David Neal of Sabina, Ohio. 4 grandchildren, Jill Pridham and her husband John, Ashley Tahany, David Sarro and Giana Babin, 2 great granddaughters, Abbey and Lauren Pridham, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by 2 brothers Lawrence and Richard Surrette. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, July 21st from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St. Peabody. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, Jul 22nd at 9 a.m. from the funeral home followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at our Lady of the Assumption Church, 758 Salem St., Lynnfield.
