Obituary of Mary Ellen (Hilenski) Muckenhoupt
Mary Ellen (Hilenski) Muckenhoupt, 62, of Danvers, died late Wednesday evening at the Devereux House after a brief illness.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of Lena (Staniszewski) Hilenski of Peabody and the late Edwin Hilenski. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of St. Johns High School, class of 1958. She has been living in Danvers for the past 25 years. She went on to attend Salem State College and graduated Cum Laude in 1961 and a year later earned her Masters Degree from Salem State in 1962.
Prior to her retirement 2 years ago, she worked for over 39 years for the Peabody School System, teaching 7th grade English at the Higgins Middle School. She also was an accomplished water colorist painter whose artwork was shown in small art shows in Danvers as well as the Danvers Police Station.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Christina Muckenhoupt of Phoenix, Arizona, and Mary Louise Muckenhoupt and her husband Michael Lister of Danvers; a brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Geri Hilenski, Jr. of Peabody; a sister and brother-in-law, Donna Hilenski and her husband Mark Brophy of Newburyport, and a nephew, Brien Brophy of Newburyport.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at St. Mary’ s Annunciation Church, Danvers, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Sunday from 4 until 7:00 PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody
