Obituary of Mary D Wright

Mary D. Wright,92, of Danvers, passed away Wednesday, July 26.2017 at her home after a lengthy illness. Mary was the wife of the late Fred H. Wright. She was born in Salem, MA. on December 13, 1924, the daughter of George F. and Anolia (Thibodeau) Jones. She was raised in Peabody, graduated from Katherine Gibbs School in Boston, and lived in Salem with her husband for many years. Mary was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a secretary to the Judges of the Superior Court of Salem. She traveled extensively with her daughter Elizabeth to Europe and Canada. Mary was especially enamored of Paris, her favorite City of Lights. She was an avid reader who enjoyed lively conversation about religion and politics as well as talk of the weather to spice it up. As members of the Salem Country Club, Mary and her family enjoyed summers at the pool and playing golf on the storied course. Later in life, she loved to invite friends and family to dinner, always dressing elegantly. Anyone who knew Mary knew every detail about her four grandchildren. Mary understood well the importance of politeness and manners when dealing with everyone she encountered, she was a true friend and gentlewoman. Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Arthur and Elizabeth Herring of California; two sons and daughters-in –law, David G. Wright and Laurie Grossman also of California and Robert A. and Patricia Wright of New Jersey; and four grandchildren, Ariel, Perrin, Katharine, and Victoria Wright; a niece Mary (Bessant) Pacheco and nephew John Robert Pacheco. Mary was predeceased by her son Frank H. Wright and sister Elizabeth Pacheco. A Celebration of Mary's life and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Boulevard, Salem, MA. on Saturday August 19, 2017 at 10:00 AM, followed by interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 226 North St. Salem, MA.
