Obituary of Daniel F. Pimenta

Daniel F Pimenta, 53, of Peabody, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon at the Beverly Hospital after sustaining injuries in a bicycle accident that afternoon. He was the devoted husband of Donna (Chouinard) Pimenta with whom he shared over 28 years of marriage. Born in Beverly, he was the son of Antonio Pimenta of Peabody and the late Florence (Abbondanza) Pimenta. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody and graduate of Peabody Veterans Memorial High School, class of 1982. He then attended Bridgewater State College where he played football for two years. Dan was a firefighter for the city for over 27 years. Dan was an outstanding athlete in high school and was a running back on the Varsity football team. He later coached the freshman football and the lacrosse Jayvee team for Peabody, and also coached youth lacrosse as well. In additional to playing football, Dan enjoyed cooking, spending time with his family, and as mentioned before, his love was cycling which helped him with his MS and was his way of giving back to the MS community. Besides his loving wife, Dan is survived by his son and daughter, Jake and Stephanie Pimenta both of Peabody, his two brothers, Joseph Pimenta of Falls Church of VA and Michael Pimenta of New Boston, NH, his two sisters, Madeline “Maddie” Pimenta of Peabody and Lisa LaForge of Essex, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a very special great nephew, Mason Kierstead of Peabody, whom he taught how to ride a bike and shared a special bond with him. He was predeceased by his brother David A. Pimenta. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the MS Society, 101 A First Ave, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451-1115.
