Obituary of Thomas Arthur Mello

Thomas A. Mello, 67, of Peabody died peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, August 15 with his family at his side. He was born in Peabody, MA on December 24, 1949, the son of the late Anthony and Sophie (Rybicki) Mello and was a lifelong resident. He had been a mechanic for most of his life and had been employed for many years for the Thermo-King Co. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war serving with the US Army. Tom was an amazing single father who dedicated his life to raising his children. He had a strong affinity for cars. A mechanic by trade and was often seen working on and fixing the cars of many family members, friends and neighbors. Later in life, he took those same skills and applied them to computer repair. On Sundays, tom could be found either watching the Patriots Games, or a NASCAR race or having Sunday dinner with his family. He took great pride in all of his grandchildren and enjoyed his large family. Tom was an avid story teller and was never shy of giving out advice. He telling of stories from his youth with truly be misses by all. He is survived by his two sons, Keith Mello and his fiancé, Kerry Greene of Essex and Christopher Mello of Peabody, two daughters and sons-in-laws, Jessica and Patrick Mac Millan of Peabody, MA and Ashley and Jason Beckwith of Glens Falls, New York, his companion of 12 years, Lisa Koehler of Peabody, a brother and sister-in-law Philip and Marilyn Mello of Peabody and was a step-father to Ryan Koehler, Jamie Murphy and the late Quintan Koehler; his nine grandchildren, Dravin, Jace, Lily, Sadie, Colby, Layla, Daniel, Liam and Megan and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Roberta Wentzal, Leonard and Robert Mello. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 20 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility.
