Obituary of Antoinette T. (Checicki) Potter

Antoinette T. (Checicki) Potter, beloved wife of the late Raymond F. Potter, died unexpectedly at the Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital in Salem on Friday morning following a brief illness. Born in Chelsea, she was the daughter of the late Michael J. and Marianna (Baranovicus) Checicki. She lived there in her youth and attended schools there, including the St. Stanislaus Parochial School, and then graduated from Chelsea High School. She later moved to Everett where she lived for several years, and moved to Peabody in 1966, shortly after her marriage, where she lived for the last 37 years. Mrs. Potter worked as a Secretary with several banks and New England Telephone before her duties at home as a supportive spouse and mother, then returned to NY-Nex for eight years until an early retirement in 1988. She loved her family and friends especially her grandchildren and also gardening, travel, and was a devout Roman Catholic who was strong in her faith. This was demonstrated by a Pilgrimage to Medujorgie in the former Yugoslavia and as a member of the Prayer Group at the Carmelite Chapel in Peabody. She was also a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody. She is survived by: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael & Valerie Potter of Wenham, and Stephen Potter of Acton; one sister, Helen Checicki of Peabody; three cherished grandchildren, Joseph Potter, Jessie Potter, and Shane Potter all of Wenham, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond F. Potter, former Director of Essex Agricultural School, two brothers Albert and Francis, and two sisters, Alexandra and Sr. Stella Marie Checicki, FSSJ Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John’ s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held today Monday from 5 to 8 PM . Burial will be in ST. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to the Carmelite Chapel, 4 Wheatland St., Peabody, MA 01960
