Obituary of Sr. Anne Howard SND deN

Sr. Anne Howard SND deN,(formerly Sr. Frances Christine) went home to the God she loved on Sunday morning, August 20, 2017 after a brief illness. The community of which she was a member for the past 76 years will remember her as a woman of faith and prayer. At the same time, Sr, Anne radiated joy and had a remarkable wit and sense of humor. She was born on January 24,1923, the daughter of the late John and Frances (Fothergill) Howard and was predeceased by her nine siblings; Sr. Regina Howard RSM, William, Mary, John, Bridget, Joseph, Dorothea, Edward and Frances. She is survived by her many Sisters of Notre Dame and leaves many devoted nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. Sister received her BA in education from Emmanuel College and earned her Master degree from Salem State and also earned a degree in Library Science. Most of her ministry years were in elementary classroom education in Providence, R.I., Beverly Farms, East Boston, South Boston, Dorchester, Salem MA and Salem NH, Worcester and Plaistow, NH. She later served as a director of Religious Education in Windham, NH Sr. Anne's life will be celebrated at the Mary Queen Chapel at 30 Jeffreys Neck Road, Ipswich on Friday, August 25. A Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM and a Prayer Service of Remembrance at 2:00 PM. The Mass of Christian burial will be at 3:00 PM followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame Retirement Fund, 30 Jeffreys Neck Rd., Ipswich, MA 01938.
