Obituary of Edna R. (Maguire) Giadone
Edna R. (Maguire) Giadone, 90, of West Peabody, died peacefully on Saturday Morning at her residence after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Anthony Giadone. She was born in East Boston on July 30, 1927, the daughter of the late John and Alice (Stock) Maguire and was raised and resided there and was a graduate of East Boston High School in 1941. She later resided in Saugus before moving to Peabody 24 years ago. Edna was first employed as a telephone operator with the N.E. Tel and Tel. Co for 10 years and later worked at the Filene’s store in Boston for 19 years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and reading and loved to hear Irish Music and was a fan of the Celtic Thunder. She was a communicant of St. Adelaide's Church. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Kathleen Giadone and Dean Ward of Peabody, Mary and Francis Lee of Nashua, NH, Norma Giadone and the late Dana Callahan of Salem, Paula and Timothy Martin of Saugus, Sharon and Michael Granese of No Reading, Daniel and Angela Giadone of Groveland, Eileen Giadone and Rich Gilbert of Nashville, TN, a daughter-in-law, Carol Giadone, wife of the late Anthony Giadone of Stoneham and the late Edward “Teddy” Giadone. She was the sister of Noreen Morley of Nashua, NH,, and the late Lt. John Maguire who was killed in the Korean War, Sgt. George Maguire who was killed in WW II, her twin brother Peter Maguire, Jean Serino, Alice LaPointe, June Sullo and Norma Hawkins. Also Survived by her 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Fred Serino and special family friends Reba Rizzo, Peggy Mancuso Kathy Graca , Charlie Mooskian and many nieces and nephews and cousins. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by A Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St., West Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park West Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Salvation Army 93 North St., Salem MA 01970 in her memory.
