Obituary of Pogoss Melkonian
Pogoss Melkonian, 78, of Peabody died Friday at the
Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Ma. after a short illness. He was the husband of
Alvina (Miller) Melkonian with whom he shared 47 years of marriage.
He was born in
Turkey on March 20, 1925, the son of the late Mikel and Mariam (Karapetian) Melkonian and had resided there before moving to Peabody 25 years ago.
He had been a textile specialist all his life and while here, he worked at the
Hood Sailmakers in Marblehead for 18 years prior to his retirement.
He
Was very mechanically inclined and loved to fix things.
Surviving him besides his wife are a son, Ruben Melkonian of Peabody,
A daughter and son-in-law, Zarui and Thomas Abraham of Amesbury,
5 grandchildren, Thomas, Andrea, Sarah and Stephanie Abraham all of
Amesbury and Shahen Melkonian of Peabody.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:30 am at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody, facility. Relatives and friends
Are kindly invited. A Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 until
11:15 AM. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem
