Obituary of Steven R Marques

Steven R. Marques, 66, of Methuen, a retired Sergeant with the Peabody Police Dept., died on Wednesday evening at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers with his family by his side. He was the husband of Paula (Murphy) Marques. He was born in Peabody on December 18, 1950, the son of the late Raymond A. and Jennie B. (Prochniewicz) Marques and was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School in 1968. He later graduated from North Shore Community College in 1970. He then entered the US Air Force serving in the Vietnam War prior to his discharge in 1975. He then attended the University of MASS at Boston where he received a bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Management in 1980 and received his master degree in Criminal Justice from Anna Marie College in 1983. Steven was first employed as a letter carrier at the US Postal Service in Peabody and in 1980 he joined the Peabody Police Department where he worked for over 25 years retiring as a Sergeant. He was also a Deputy Sheriff with the Essex County Sheriff’s Department. He had worked in security at the Brooksby Village in Peabody for the past two years. Steve had been a member of the Peabody/Lynn lodge of Elks, # 1409, the Knights of Columbus, the Polish Club of Danvers and the Emerald Society of Boston. He had been a collector of trains, police badges, coins and model ships and airplanes. He loved spending summers with his family at Salisbury Beach, MA. He is survived by his wife Paula of Methuen, a son, Steven Marques II of Methuen, 3 daughters, Jillian Marques of Lawrence, Alyssa Marques and her partner Brandy and Alexandra Marques and her partner Ann and a son-in-law, Jeff Roger all of Methuen, a sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Mike Hixson of Rutland, MA, his three grandchildren, Jeffrey Roger Jr of Methuen, and Ayva and Mia Deberadinis of Plaistow, NH and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Funeral service will be held there on Monday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Sharon Dunbar-Link officiating. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
