Obituary of Adelvino S. Ataide

Adelvino S. Ataide, 89, passed away Tuesday evening at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Vitalina (Mello) Ataide, who passed away in 1979. Adelvino was born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, on February 26, 1928, son of the late Fransico and Rosa (De Melo) Ataide. He was raised in educated in Portugal prior to moving to the United States. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a machine operator at Altron and then Samina Electronics in Wilmington. He was also a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody. He enjoyed growing his own grapes, and eventually making wine from them, tending to his garden, but most importantly being surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving daughter and her husband, Zelinda & Jose Silva of Peabody; a granddaughter, Shantel Lee Silva; his siblings, Fransisco Ataide, Sidonio Ataide, & Isaltina Ataides, all of Portugal, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 14, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral will be held on Friday, Septmeber 15, at 8:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody at 9A.M. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
