Obituary of Shirley Mae Rodenhiser

Shirley Mae (Dunn) Rodenhiser, 89, of Peabody, died peacefully on Friday morning at Sunrise at Gardner Park in Peabody following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Carl L Rodenhiser who died this past July and with whom she shared almost 67 years of marriage. Born in Newburyport, MA on March 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Mary (Willis) Dunn. She was raised and educated in West Newbury and continued her education at Lowell State College and received her degree in Music. Upon her marriage to her husband, she was an army wife and mother who traveled throughout the country and world before settling down in Peabody 54 years ago. Shirley enjoyed her summers in the Belgrade Lakes region of Maine and wintering down in Del Ray Beach, Florida. She was an avid piano player and played for the church choir. She also enjoyed boating with her husband on the lakes in Maine, was an avid Red Sox fan, but her favorite time was spent being with her family. She is survived by her children, Karen Harwood and her husband Donald of Salem, Alan L. Rodenhiser and his wife Christine of Methuen, Judy Sudak and her husband Alan and Sheryll DiFelice and her fiancé Kevin Crotty all of Peabody, her cherished eleven grandchildren, Jarrod, Sarah, Justin, Jason, Jonathan, Joseph, Jesse, Jeremy, Rachel, Jillian and Alyssa, his nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Carl Leslie Rodenhiser and her siblings Wilbur and Donald Dunn, Kathleen Casazza and Myrtle Cairney. The Rodenhiser family would like to thank the friends and staff at Sunrise and Care Dimensions for their compassion and professionalism during this difficult time and are truly grateful of their efforts. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St, Peabody facility. Her Funeral Service will be held there on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Bridge St. Cemetery, West Newbury.
