Obituary of Jose C. Felizardo
It is with deep, and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Jose C. Felizardo, who passed on September 21, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Maria (Matela) Felizardo, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Jose was born on January 1, 1936, son of the late Francisco & Amelia (Cabral) Felizardo, in Arcozelo da Serra, Portugal, where he lived his early life. In 1977 at age 41, he along with his wife, Maria, and their children, emigrated to the US and settled in Peabody, MA. Jose was active, with his many interests including gardening, being a member of various fraternity chapters, including Clube Luis de Camoes- Portuguese Fraternity, Our Lady of Help Society, Our Lady of Fatima Church, and Sacred Heart of Jesus Society. With the arrival of his grandchildren and great-grandchild, he found great joy passing time in making shoes for them in homage to his early work in shoe manufacturing and leather. Jose also served as the “world’s most avid fan” of the Benfica soccer club and in finding ways to surround himself with his family, friends, and beloved dog, Neco. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Isabel and Manuel Espinola; his sons and daughter-in-law; John Felizardo, Alexandre Felizardo and Charlene; his granddaughters; Kristin and her boyfriend Bobby, Ashley, Felicia, Alison, and Olivia; a great-granddaughter, Isabella. He also leaves behind his large and loving extended family, including his brother, Joaquim Cabral and his wife Emilia, sisters; Joaquina Cabral of Portugal, Emelia Isidro and her husband Manuel, Teresa Brites and her husband Jose, nieces and nephews; Emelia and Virgilio Rodrigues of Portugal, Angelina, Frank, Jose, Nuno, and Nancy. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 24, from 3 to 6P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St Peabody, MA. A funeral will be held on Monday, September 25, at 8AM at the funeral home followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody, at 9A.M. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Salem.
