Obituary of Carlos dos Santos Cunha
Carlos dos Santos Cunha, 75, of Peabody, died early Sunday afternoon at the North Shore Medical Center, Salem, following a long illness. He was the devoted husband of Maria dos Anjos Cunha with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
Born on August 26, 1926 in Fronhas, Portugal, he was the son of the late
Abilio and Maria Candida (Nogueira) Cunha and had resided there until moving to Peabody in 1961.
He was an entrepreneur in the Travel and Transportation industry for over 30 years and helped many Portuguese people immigrate to the United States.
He had served on the board of the Luso-American Credit Union of Peabody, the
Portuguese Continental Union and the Club Luis de Camoes and was the local represtntative for the Banco Portuguezdo do Atlantico and the imperio do nabao and
Relvas Travel Agency of Portugal.
Surviving him besides his wife are 4 children and their spouses, Edite Cunha and Charles Cutler of West Hawley, Ma., Carlos and Rhonda Cunha of Long Island, N.Y., Fred and Nivea Cunha and Brenda and Gilmar Mattos all of Peabody; a brother, Jose da Cunha and a sister, Maria dos Santos both of Peabody, 7 grandchildren: Sara and Diana
Pedrosa, Joshua , Ashley and Trevor Cunha, Catia Sofia Cunha and Tiago Mattos and
A great grandchild, Jiro Ras Roma and many nieces and nephews.
His
Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill- Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of
Fatima Church, Peabody at 9:00 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 2:00 - 4:00 & 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. Realtives and friends kindly
