Obituary of David M. Petersen

David M. Petersen, 82, formerly of Peabody, died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Sunrise of Burlington Assisted Living Center with his family at his side. He was the husband of the late Patricia A. (Shinnick) Petersen. He was born in Lynn, MA on June 24, 1935, the son of the late Martin and Catherine (Donahoe) Petersen and was raised and educated in Lynn graduating from Lynn English High School in 1953. He later graduated from Northeastern University in 1958 with a degree in Engineering and later received his Master’s degree from Union College. He had resided in Peabody for many years. He had worked at the General Electric Co. in Lynn for 26 years retiring in 1991 and later worked at the Hueter Co. Machine Co for five years. David enjoyed playing and listening to music from the organ and was a member of the American Theater Organ Society and also the organ Historical Society. He was a member of the North Shore Computer Society. David loved to travel and enjoyed watching and following the Boston Sports teams. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gregg and Jill Petersen of Winthrop, MA, a daughter, Kristen Searles of Peabody, his grandchildren Caleigh, Conlan and Casey Petersen all of Winthrop, a sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Richard Gannon of Van Alstyne Texas, and his nieces, Cathy Chapman of Virginia and Jill Field of Texas and a nephew, Richard Gannon of Texas. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Funeral Service will be held there on Friday at 11:30 AM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
