Obituary of H. Theodore "Ted" MacDonald

H. Theodore MacDonald, 86, of Brooksby Village, Peabody and formerly of Boxford, MA, died peacefully on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Braeburn Gardens in Brooksby Village. He was the husband of the late Jill Pritchard (Clapsaddle) MacDonald. Ted was born in Stoneham, MA on January 11, 1931, the son of the late Hector M. and Barbara (Holden) MacDonald and was a graduate of Melrose High School in 1948 and Worcester Academy in 1949. He attended Northeastern University before entering the U.S. Air Force in 1951 where he served as a Senior Communications Specialist in England during the Korean War. Following his discharge in 1954 he attended and graduated from the Babson Institute of Business Administration with a B.S. degree. After college Ted was employed with the Kendall Mills division of the Kendall Co. as a Salesman covering multiple mid-western states including Iowa where he met and married his wife Jill. He returned to the Boston area residing in Boxford and became the President of Bay State Bindery, Inc. in Boston for over 30 years prior to his retirement. He had resided in the Brooksby Village in Peabody for the past 16 years. Ted enjoyed skiing at Sunday River in Maine and later spent his winters at Swiss Golf & Tennis Club in Winter Haven, Florida. He loved to dance and sing and also acted in plays at Brooksby. He had been a member of the Masons while in Ohio and loved to travel. While in Boxford he enjoyed gardening and especially growing dahlias. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas M. and Robyn MacDonald of Georgetown, two daughters, Barbara J. MacDonald of Londonderry, N.H. and Linda E. MacDonald of West Newbury, and his close friend, Josephine Prudente of Peabody. A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Brooksby Village Chapel, 200 Brooksby Village Drive, (off of Rt. 114, Peabody) at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 28, 2017 .
