Obituary of Howard E Gard

Howard E. Gard, 85 years young of North Fort Myers, Florida and formerly of Peabody passed away on Thursday, September 28th. Howie is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth (Bette) Gard with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of Percy and Ann (Butler) Gard. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and then worked for many years for the City of Peabody. Upon retirement he moved to North Fort Myers Florida where he enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Howie was the loving father to Patricia and Richard Barile of Revere, Robert and Sharon Gard of Lynnfield, and Glen and Cheryl Gard of Salem. He was the cherished grandfather to Alyssa, Erin, Evan, Glen Jr, and Sean Gard. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Mona Gard of Lynn, along with many nieces and nephews. Howie was predeceased by his brothers; Bernie, Robert, Hank, Billy and Gloria, and Donald Gard, as well as his sisters Frances Gilmore, Delma and Chet April, and Florence and Raymond McDonald. A visitation will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street in Peabody on Thursday, October 19th. from 4:00 to 8:00 PM to which family and friends are invited. Burial will be private. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Jimmy Fund.
