Obituary of Sr. Maryanne Gorman, S.N.D.

Sr. Maryanne Gorman, S.N.D., 95 WORCESTER / IPSWICH – Sr. Maryanne Gorman, S.N.D., 95, died peacefully on Tuesday morning October 17, 2017 at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Facility in Worcester, following a brief illness. Born in St. Charles, Prince Edward Island, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Emmanuel and Emma (Power) Gorman. She grew up there and graduated from high school in that area. She joined the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Community in 1940, with her First Vows in 1942, then her Perpetual Vows in 1948 in Waltham. Sr. Maryanne served among the ministries in the Boston area. She enjoyed her work in the community by cooking, as a seamstress, a hairdresser and nurse’s aide. Besides her religious family of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, she is survived by a brother and sister, Frank Gorman of P.E.I., Canada, and Ella Goudreau of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Joseph Gorman and Robert Gorman. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday October 20, 2017 to pay their respects from 1 – 2:30 P.M. at the Our Lady of Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffrey’s Neck Rd., Ipswich, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 3 P.M. Cremation will follow after the Mass.
