Obituary of Bertha Ellen Snow
Bertha Ellen Snow, 106, of Peabody and formerly of Arlington, died peacefully on Wednesday October 11 at Continuing Care at Brooksby Village following a brief illness. Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Tilden and Eliza (Wilson) Snow. She was raised and educated in Arlington and was a graduate of Arlington High School, class of 1929. She continued her education at Burdett College and received her associates degree in 1932. She has lived in Peabody for the past 13 years. Bertha was a nurse’s aide at Symms Hospital during WWII and later was employed as a bookkeeper at Harvard University Widener Library for many years before retiring in 1976. She enjoyed traveling and was a member of Theta Epsilon Club of Arlington for over 40 years. She is survived by her sister, Jennie Gardner Wyman and by her 7 nieces and 2 nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers James and John Snow. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
