Obituary of Marian Regina (McLeod) Cormier

Marian Regina (McLeod) Cormier, 79, of South Peabody, died Wednesday at the Ledgewood Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center, Beverly after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Edward N. Cormier . She was born in Saugus on April 10, 1927, the daughter of the late Michael and Dora C. (Coffee) Mc Leod and was a graduate of Saugus High School. She had resided in Danvers where she taught religious education classes at St. Richard’ s Church and at Hogan Regional Center. She moved to Peabody in 1982 and was active as a Eucharistic Minister in St. Ann’ s Church in So.Peabody. She later returned to school, first at North Shore Community College and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services in 1993 at Lesley University. She had been a secretary for many years in her late husband’ s appraisal business on the North Shore. She enjoyed gardening,dancing, walking every day and traveling abroad. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Edward N. and Cheryl Cormier Jr. of Peabody and Michael J. Cormier of Salem, two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine M. and Joseph Butler of So. Hamilton, and Sandra and Jerome Strazzulla of Beverly, a brother, Donald Mc Leod of Lynnfield, 2 sisters, Mildred Inman of Saugus and Emily Gould of Peabody, 3 grandchildren, Jay C. And Kenny Cormier of Peabody and Christie Butler of So. Hamilton,and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late James, William and Walter Mc Leod, Helen Collins and Leona Fuller. A Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’ s Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
