Obituary of William Manos

William Manos, 93, of Peabody died Saturday at the Peabody Glen Nursing Center in Peabody after a long illness. He was a native of Peabody born on June 3, 1912 the son of the late Paul and Stella (Kapitinis) Manos and was a lifelong resident of Peabody. He graduated from Peabody High School in 1932 and was first employed in leather tanneries in Peabody. He enlisted in the US Navy during WW 11 serving in the Asiatic Pacific theatre operation prior to his discharge in 1945. Following his discharge, he was a technician at the Eastman Geletine Corp. of Peabody for over 30 years prior to his retirement in 1977. He had been a member of the Saugus Lodge of Elks, and the Saugus VFW. He loved to golf and play bocce . He was the former husband of the late Elsie (Rosa) Manos and later Roberta (Quill) Manos. He is survived by two daughters and sons - in-law, Helen and Nicholas Decoulos and Estelle and Joseph Cabral all of Peabody,4 brothers, James Manos of No. Andover, Ernest and George Manos of Peabody and Louie Manos of Arizona, a sister, Helen Shambos of Peabody , two daughters-in-law, Patricia Manos of California and Julie Manos of Wilmington, MA, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren , nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Paul and Francis Manos and the brother of the late Peter, Thomas and Charles Manos. A visitation will be held on uesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., New Facility, Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 from the Funeral Home followed by Services in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody at 12:00 Noon. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Vasilios Altar Fund, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960 in his memory.
