Obituary of John F. Montague
John F. Montague, 38, beloved husband of Julie (Dempsey) Montague of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Tuesday at the Swedish Hospital in Englewood, CO following complications during rehabilitations from an accidental spinal cord injury four years ago.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of Arleen (Cody) Montague of Peabody and Robert Montague of Amherst, NH. He was a lifelong resident of the City of Peabody and attended Peabody schools. He graduated from Peabody High School.
Mr. Montague worked in his family’ s business, Marine Exchange in Peabody.
He was very active in his love and participation in sports, including skiing and playing hockey prior to an accident in which he sustained spinal cord injuries in 1999. John adjusted to his injury very well and lived a full life with his family, friends and especially his son, Michael. John helped coach Michael’ s Baseball Team and was very involved at the West Memorial School where his son attends.
John enjoyed boating, music, and working around his house.
John and Julie deeply appreciate the love and support of the whole community of friends, and the entire extended family and his wife’ s family with whom he lived the people who helped care for him including: his wife, Julie (Dempsey) Montague of Peabody, with whom he shared 10 years of marriage; one son, Michael Montague of Peabody, a 2nd Grader at the West Memorial School; his mother, Arleen (Cody) Montague of Peabody; one brother and sister-in-law, Kevin & Jan Montague of Needham; a sister and brother-in-law, Michelle & Mike Waltz of Pennsylvania; his father-in-law, Timothy Dempsey of Peabody; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cindy & Paul Church of Manchester, NH, and Leslie & Peter Milano of Saugus, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Monday at 10 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. Adelaide’ s Church, West Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited.
A visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 - 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
