Obituary of James Dana Mulholland Sr.

James Dana Mulholland Sr., 89, of Peabody died peacefully on Monday, November 20, 2017 at his residence with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Claire (McCormick) Mulholland . Dana was born in Newport, R.I, on March 25, 1928, the son of the late Dana and Mary (Fitzpatrick) Mulholland and was raised there graduating from DeLasalle Academy. He then entered the US Marine Corp where he attained the rank of Sergeant before his discharge at Cherry Point N.C. in 1949. He then went to Boston University and received his engineering degree and worked at Sylvania / G.T.E./ OSRAM Corp. at the Danvers plant for many years prior to his retirement. He had been a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody. He is survived by his wife Claire of Peabody, a son, Peter M. Mulholland and his girl friend Dale Brandt of Pepperell, MA, his two daughters, Mary Ann Wall and her husband Kevin of Amesbury and Karen M. Farrell and her husband Mark of Randolph, a brother and sister-in-law, Robert F. and Elizabeth Mulholland of Portsmouth R.I, his 6 grandchildren including Joey Graves of Peabody, three great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Heidi Mulholland of Middleton. He was the father of the late James. D. Mulholland Jr. who died in 2013 and the brother of the late William and John Mulholland of Rhode Island. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody MA. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St., Peabody MA. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the MASS Fallen Heroes Memorial Fund, 100 Hallet St., Dorchester, MA 02124 in his memory.
