Obituary of Apostolos Soterios Kareklas

Apostolos Soterios Kareklas, 86 years young, passed away early Sunday morning at his residence surrounded by his loving family. One of 4 siblings, Apostolos (also known at Paul), was born in 1931 in Lesvos, Greece to the late Soterios and Efterpi (Syrianos) Kareklas. Apostolos’ entire life was marked with a zest for life and the courage to face the many challanges that life holds. He served in the Greek Navy before emigrating to Peabody, MA in the early seventies. Apostolos had been a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody. He was a proud Greek who had great love for his country, which he visited yearly. His spare time was consumed by the great outdoors and the love of his organic garden. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Felicia (Alogomia) of Peabody,three beautiful daughters, Effie and her husband George Skourides of Arlington, MA, Stamatia Joy and her husband Andrew of Wakefield,MA and Soteria Thompson and her husband Timothy of Plymouth, MA, five precious grandchildren, Trianna, Dimitri, and Natalya Skourides of Arlington,MA Collin Thompson of Plymouth MA and the late Theo Apostolos Joy of Wakefield MA ( he was a proud and loving Papou who took the title Papou proudly), his siblings, Peter Kareklas and his wife Despina of Peabody,MA the late Maria Moshonisiou and the late Adamandia Aradas and her husband John Aradas of Amesbury, and many cousins, nieces and nephews and their respective spouses with many of whom he had a special relationship. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahil- Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home followed by Services at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
